Komyo Reiki Kai

FAQs

"How often do you have Reiki classes?"

I generally have a beginner's class about once a month, on either a Saturday or Sunday. Check the Class Calendar for the most up-to-date schedule of classes. I always announce new classes here first.

"Where are the classes held?"

Classes are held at the Korean Buddhist Society in
North Surrey.

"How much does the beginner's class cost?"

The beginner's class is $150.

"Do we walk away with all the manuals and information necessary to be confident at level one?"

Yes! For each class you will receive a training manual and authentic Japanese/English certificate. New students also receive a Komyo Reiki introduction package.

"Will we be sitting on the floor for the class?"

We sit on chairs, and there are plenty of breaks to get up and stretch.

"I am pregnant. Is it ok for me to take a Reiki class?"

There is absolutely no problem with studying Reiki when you are pregnant. Reiki is positive energy and will bring only goodness to your baby!

"Do I need any special ability or knowledge of Reiki to take a class?"

No, you don't need any special abilities or previous knowledge - it's absolutely a beginner class!

"How long is the study for each level?"

Each level has a one-day class. There are different study times for each level though. I recommend students wait at least three weeks between level one and two, a few months (or even a year) between level two and three, and a year between level three and four. During this time the students get time to practice, build their experience, and attend Reiki shares and my student practice nights. Students who are interested in becoming a Reiki teacher have the unique opportunity of apprenticing with me.

"Could you give me a general breakdown for all the levels and what they mean?"

Sure! There are four levels in Komyo Reiki Kai.

The first is Shoden, this means beginning teaching. Students learn to practice Reiki, the history of Reiki and the standard hand positions, etc.

The second is Chuden. This means middle teaching. Students learn three symbols to focus the energy, and some additional techniques, including some traditional Japanese techniques that aren't generally taught in Western Reiki.

The third is Okuden. This means inner teaching. The fourth and final symbol is taught and students are now at the energetic level of a Reiki teacher. Time is spent on the spiritual side of Reiki. This class is to deepen student's understanding of Reiki and develop their inner growth.

The fourth is Shinpiden, which means mystic or sacred teaching. This class teaches the student to become a teacher. Students learn how to perform reiju (attunements done during Reiki classes). There are some special criteria for this class.
